Make your own exfoliating products:
Exfoliating shower gels can be expensive, so why not make your own cosmetics? Simply mix sugar (or salt) with butter and rub the concoction over your body. The small abrasives will remove dead skin cells and should improve your circulation – leaving your with a radiant glow. Skin rejuvenation treatments are available at many clinics, but this technique is a great alternative.
Raid your kitchen cupboards:
Believe it or not, olive oil makes a great moisturiser – so give it a go. Pour some into your hand and massage it into your skin in small circular movements. This will increase your circulation and should leave your complexion looking soft and shiny. Olive oil has been used as a beauty treatment for thousands of years and is thought to have many medicinal qualities.
Create your own facemask:
If your skin needs a little TLC, learn how to make your own facemask and look glamorous throughout the year. Start by mashing up two avocados into a smoothpaste and apply the fruit to your face. Leave the mixture to work its magic for around half an hour before washing off with lukewarm water. IPL laser can get rid of lines and wrinkles, but avocados are also thought to combat the signs of ageing.
Don’t over use products:
If creating your own products doesn’t appeal, use the ones you have sparingly. Apply just enough moisturiser to do the job and don’t overuse foundation. Too much slap can look awful anyway, so be sensible about how much you wear. Try cutting open tubes of creams to get the last bit out (there might be more in there than you think) and use everything you own (even those little pots of cosmetics you’ve saved from hotel stays).
Pamper and preen throughout the year, without spending too much cash.
